Matt
Holland (actra, caea, uda, wgc)
Matt Holland is a screenwriter and an
actor from Montreal. Throughout his career, he has appeared in many films,
plays, television shows and commercials. Credits include: Map of the Human
Heart, Mrs Parker and The Vicious Circle, Danielle Steele’s Vanished,
Blanche, Les batisseurs d’eau, Barney’s Great Adventure, and the recent
features, The Aviator, Secret Window, The Day After Tomorrow, Nouvelle
France, and The Terminal. He has lent his voice to such animated series’
as Arthur, Pig City, Creep School, Daft Planet, What’s With Andy? and
the animated feature, Pinocchio 3000. Matt is also the current President
of ACTRA Montreal.
He is a graduate of the M.A. program
in Creative Writing (English Literature) at Concordia University and of
both the Writer’s Lab and the Professional Screenwriting Programme at
The Canadian Film Centre. His short script, Drop Off, was produced as
part of the OMDC’s Al Waxman Calling Card Program; and his first produced
feature screenplay, Gone Dark (a.k.a The Limit), premiered at the 2003
Montreal World Film Festival and was released in June 2004. It was directed
by Lewin Webb and stars Lauren Bacall, Claire Forlani, Henry Czerny and
Pete Postlethwaite. He wrote and directed the short film, Whistleblowers
Anonymous, a Moc Docs 2003 winner, which had its network broadcast on
CBC’s Rough Cuts and its festival premiere at NSI FilmExchange in Winnipeg.
Matt also works as a story editor/script consultant and was a content
analyst for the English television division of Telefilm Canada. He is
currently writing an episode of “Moose TV,” a new series for the Showcase
Network. |
