Kalo
Gow (actra, caea)
L. Kalo Gow is a writer, director, performer,
vocal coach and period movement/dance choreographer. Originally from the
Southern US, Kalo migrated to Boston via NYC, then to Toronto, finally
landing in Montréal. She now lives on the West Island with her husband,
playwright David Gow, and their beloved cat, Matilda.
Currently, Kalo is Series Writer for
the web based soap opera "The Velvet", for which she will also
direct. Kalo has in development her feature film scripts: "Between
Floors", "The House Guest", “What About Love", as
well as her television series "Waiting for Dessert". Kalo’s
short film "Lemonade" premiered in 2007 in Montréal and London.
Her short film "Slate, Please" is in preproduction.
Kalo is author and director of over twenty-five
plays and musicals for young audiences, all produced in Boston. Kalo directed
professionally in Boston for Unit II Theatre Co., Playwright's Platform
and Nucleo Ecletico. She was recently Assistant Director on "Relative
Good" at the Centaur Theatre.
Kalo has taught acting, voice and movement
since 1988. She holds an M.F.A. in Theatre/Acting, Graduate Diplomas in
Teaching Voice and in Teaching Movement, an M.Ed. in Theatre, as well
as having trained extensively with the Roy Hart Theatre in France. Kalo's
academic publications include "The Vocal Vision: Views on Voice by
24 Leading Teachers, Coaches and Directors", Applause Books. |
