Mahalia Golnosh Tahririha (actra, caea)

Mahalia is an actor, dramaturg, and producer, who is grateful to have spent her time on stages across the country. Though theatre will always be her first love, Mahalia is eager to expand into the fields of film, television, commercial, voice and video game performance. Onstage, she has worked with theatre companies such as The Segal Centre for the Performing Arts, Playwrights Workshop Montreal, The National Arts Centre, The Great Canadian Theatre Company, Belfry Theatre, Thousand Islands Playhouse, Skeleton Key Theatre and A Company of Fools, among others.

Since 2016, she has also been a producer of Fresh Meat, a performance festival where local theatre makers are given a unique opportunity to test new ideas in front of an audience, which has given life to over 60 20-minute world premieres for creations that have gone on to be performed at festivals across the country, regional theatres, and even the National Arts Centre.

Her passion lies in making performance more accessible and inclusive, and telling stories that question, subvert, and re-define the ideas and images we carry about ourselves. She holds a Bachelor’s in Theatre and Psychology and a Master’s in Theatre, both from the University of Ottawa. She is a member of the 2018-2019 Black Theatre Workshop Artist Mentorship Program, and in 2017, she received the 2017 Prix Rideau Award for Emerging Artist.
