Robert Tsonos (actra)

Robert Tsonos was born and raised in Dollard Des Ormeaux, QC but after University got the travelling bug and was soon living and working around the world. He has acted in, or directed, over 60 theatre productions across Canada, Japan, England, Venezuela, Hong Kong, and Australia during his over 25 year career. Some of his favourite acting roles include the title role in Macbeth at the Shouson Theatre in Hong Kong; Lord Goring in An Ideal Husband, and Richard the Lionheart in The Lion In Winter, both at Watermark Theatre in PEI; Cassio in Othello at Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon, and the role of Austin in True West at the Akasaka Playbox in Tokyo.

His numerous film and television roles over the years include Condor directed by Andrew McCarthy, Mayday, Reign, Packed to the Rafters, Rake, Warehouse 13, Push, Alien Mysteries, Behind Mansion Walls, Deadly Women, Twisted Sheets, Below the Belt, Pride, and Off Record. Robert has also appeared in over a hundred TV commercials both on camera and as a voice actor.

Robert has also had an international directing career having worked at The Canadian Embassy Theatre in Tokyo, The Hong Kong Arts Centre, TEATRELA in Caracas Venezuela, Temple University Japan, The Etcetera Theatre in London, Dancehall Theatre in Manchester, as well as the Watermark Theatre in PEI where he is currently the Artistic Director.

As a playwright, Robert's play It's Time won the Uprising National Playwriting Competition, and was a finalist for the Herman Voaden Playwriting Competition. His play The Hum was produced in Hong Kong and was published by Level 4 Press in "Regional Best 2012". His play William & James has been produced in Toronto (Theatre Passe Muraille), New York, Montreal and Ottawa with staged readings in Melbourne and Washington.

Robert is thrilled to be back in Montreal after all his travels and looks forward to enjoying all the city has to offer.
