Tamara Brown (actra caea uda-s)

Tamara Brown is an actor, singer, director, and educator. You may remember her from Intimate Apparel at Centaur and the Segal's production of Inherit the Wind. She has played on BTW stages and Tableau D’ Hôte Theatre productions.

She has had the incredible fortune to perform with artists such as Buena Vista Social Club, Bebel Gilberto, Paul Anka, Mario Pelchat, Dubmatique, and many others, and has toured with her own bands across Canada, US, and Asia.

Tamara got her start in a student-initiated production of the 15-Minute Hamlet. It beat out her high school's official submission and went on to win the Sears Ontario Drama Festival. She hasn't looked back since.

As a private acting and vocal coach she has taught at Concordia University, ASM Performing Arts, the Saidye Bronfman Youth Institute, and served as the Program Director of YouthWorks at Black Theatre Workshop for many years. Tamara is a graduate of Concordia's Theatre Performance program.

In 2010 she co-founded Metachroma Theatre, the only independent English-language company of professional actors of colour in the city. Metachroma Theatre addresses the under-representation of visible minority actors in Canadian Theatre, challenging current perceptions by telling stories with a diverse cast in order to normalize the presence of these artists on stage.
